Cyprian Southack, son of a naval officer, was born in London in and arrived at the age of 23 years in Boston, Massachusetts as a naval lieutenant. Here in he married Elizabeth Foy, by whom he had ten children. Cyprian Southack was an English cartographer and colonial naval commander. Cyprian Southack (1662-1745), the son of a British naval lieutenant, came to Boston in 1685. In 1696, he was appointed the commander of the first Province Galley, a small vessel of ten guns built by order of the Massachusetts General Court and used against the French and Indians in skirmishes in Maine and Nova Scotia.
